The Lion band played last Monday at Bible Stadium during the annual Festival of Bands performance. All the Leander Independent School District middle and high schools performed during the night.

“It was a lot of fun getting to perform and see the other bands from the district as well,” senior Chase Holder said. “I think we are doing really well this year but so are other bands around us so it’s hard to say just yet.”

The band has been practicing since July 27 and have so far played at football games and won second place in the Band of the Americas Austin Regional final last Saturday. At Festival of the Bands every school has a performance to showcase their skills and shows for the year. The Lions performed their show ‘The Fourth Dimension’ in front of all the other schools. However, junior Maggie Barker says that this performance is different.

“We perform the same show but it’s different because we’re able to see other band’s shows and talk to other bands,” Barker said. “Everybody wants to perform better because other bands know what it’s like and they judge you more.”

The band will perform Friday at the football game’s halftime at Vandegrift and will also have UIL Marching Contest on October 22nd.

“We are going to be adding more to our show so that it is finished first,” Holder said. “After that we are just going to work on consistency so that every performance is better than the last.”
