National Honor Society Inductees

National Honor Society is an organization that accepts students who not only have a grade point average of 4.3 or higher, but show leadership, character, service and scholarship. Monday, September 30, in the Little Theatre, juniors and seniors were inducted into the organization.

The induction began with the presentation of the colors and the Pledge of Allegiance led by President Terry Ballard, senior, who was accompanied by Vice President Samantha Wallace, senior; Secretary Nicole McDaniel, senior; Treasurer Sarah Reed, senior; Public Relations Denica Amador, senior; Principal Brad Mansfield and Superintendent Dr. Bret Champion. Ballard began the ceremony introducing Dr. Champion who gave a short speech. Continuing the ceremony was the candle lighting ceremony, performed at every NHS induction.

Senior recipients were: Parth Amin, Nolberto Ayala-Tellez, Gavin Barron, Maria Del Sol Castillo, Kindra Ferguson, Valerie Garner, Annette Giron, Maximillian Hart, Richard Hensley, Luis Martinez, Jessica Rodriguez, Duke Sanchez, Tiffany Sandoval, Gino Santolamazza, Grant Shewmaker, Kendrick Stevenson, Danielle Vaughn, William Walden, Cameron Walter, Anna Ward and Joseph Yope.

After all of the certificates were received and the pictures were taken, the inductees, led by Ballard, recited the NHS Pledge: I pledge myself always to seek the light of truth, to hold scholarly habits, to engage in worthy service and to lead forward in all things that shall advance the welfare of the school.

Along with her passion for Journalism, Siandhara keeps her schedule busy with meetings and activities for Student Council, C-Squared, Green Paws, and Tutors Inc. That doesn’t stop her though, from being a top-notch student enrolled in the IB Program. After high school, Siandhara has plans to attend Gaylord College of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Oklahoma after she graduates, with a major in Journalism and a minor in Photography.
