Congratulations are in order for the LHS Choirs!

The Lionheart Singers and Non-Varsity Women performed at UIL, earning top scores in stage performance, as well as sight-reading.

“The best lesson that we’ve learned is that hard work pays off. If you just put forth the time and effort, you can do anything,” Choir Director Spencer Wiley said.

The Lionheart Singers earned 1s in stage performance, equivalent to Superiors, as well as 2s in sight-reading, which are equivalent to Excellents. The Non-Varsity Women’s choir earned 2s in stage performance and 1s in sight-reading.

“I’m so proud at what these kids have been able to accomplish in just four to five months,” Wiley said.

Wiley came to work at LHS this past semester, after long-time director Mr. Davis had to resign due to health problems. Wiley has big and bright plans for the choir program that don’t intend to stop with UIL accomplishments.*

There’s still one last chance to hear this award-winning choir! On May 23rd at 7 p.m., the choir department will be holding a free spring concert in the PAC. They will be featuring multiple genres of pop songs, inlcuding Rihanna and Pharrell Williams.

*A feature on the new choir director, Mr. Wiley, is in progress. Be sure to check out The Roar for updates.
