New this year, application help sessions are being offered nine times in different pride times. These sessions offer one on one help for seniors for scholarships, essays and college applications.

This year we are providing something a little different, in that we are offering 9 Application Help Sessions during Pride Time for seniors,” Transition coordinator Melissa Wood said. “ These sessions are limited so that each student is able to get their questions answered. Students need to sign-up through their Naviance Account.”

This event was created for those who want to be better prepared for sending in college applications. The sessions will be limited to 15 students max.

“For those students who are busy in the fall or just want to get their applications finished before it gets too hectic, this event is great for them,” Wood said. “For many students this is the kick-start to their senior year.”

The sessions are offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the months of September and October. However, Tuesdays and Thursdays are a necessary IB pride time.

“I think it will be a lovely helpful thing but IB kids are sad they can’t participate,” IB student Sarah Hayes said. “Though, got to be honest, I probably wouldn’t go because I am already mostly done with my applications. And well I gotta say, if kids haven’t done their applications yet then they are probably planning on procrastinating further and probably wouldn’t be the type of people to go to something like that.”

Additionally, “Appetizers & Applications” will be offered on September 22 and October 13, from 5:30-7:30pm in the LHS Library. Students should sign-up through their Naviance Account, so officials know how much food to provide. These sessions are to assist students/parents with the college application process and provide additional assistance outside of the school day for parents to be able to attend.

“Students need to bring their resume, essays, related college application log-in information, time and some patience,” Wood said. “The application process is exactly that, a process. It will take time and to be thorough, you need time. Anytime students have questions about the college process, we are always available to assist.”
