The Lions defeated Anderson 64-54, and then faced a loss to Liberty Hill. Coming back after the loss, the Lions faced off against Burnet, winning 83-56.

“We just came back and needed to respond,” Bonner said. “We recognized what we did wrong at Liberty Hill, and we just responded and came back strong.”

The Lions led 14-9 in the first quarter. Junior Kobe Thompson scored seven points in the quarter, leading the team. Junior JP Stevens scored a three pointer early on in the quarter, and senior David Bonner scored two points.

“We were real pleased with what we did,” senior Michael Berry said. “We really tried to respond after the loss at Liberty Hill so this was well expected.”

At the half, the Lions led 31-17 after Stevens scored another three pointer, and sophomore Dalton Flowers scored six points. Junior Kristian Murphy also led the team in the quarter with five points. The defense was able to keep Burnet out of the basket most of the night by limiting them to scoring eight points in the quarter.

“We feel pretty good,” Head Coach Clint Bradley said. “We talked about playing a full four complete quarters, which we didn’t do against Liberty Hill. So, we were able to do that, and have a strong third quarter after half time, which we were pleased to see as well.”

During the third quarter, the Lions scored a total of 34 points with the help of Bonner, who scored nine points, topping his night off with 11 points, Stevens, who scored another three pointer in the third period, and finished off with nine points, senior Logan Kubin, who scored five points in the quarter and senior Pedro Silva, who scored six points.

We’re going to come in, expect hard work at practice to improve daily, we are going to make sure we’re making huge improvements defensively, and rebound the basketball, and we should be in good shape.

“We are feeling good,” Bonner said. “Taking care of these three wins has really helped us out, and we just gotta get back on track from our Liberty Hill loss and we’ll be good.”

After the final quarter, Berry finished off with 10 points, and Flowers finished with 12, the highest on the team. Silva finished with nine points along with Cotton.

“We’re going to keep practicing hard,” Berry said. “We’re going to condition. Coach just said earlier that he’s going to get the football guys back up to speed, really try to keep us going, and get our conditioning up, and try to keep our shots together, and just keep learning how to play together as a team.”

The Lions will have a few tournaments to go to before facing off against Belton on December 7. They will go to the Jack Frost Tournament at Georgetown the weekend of December 5.
“For the Georgetown tournament, we are going to do what we always do,” Bradley said. “We’re going to come in, expect hard work at practice to improve daily, we are going to make sure we’re making huge improvements defensively, and rebound the basketball, and we should be in good shape.”
