The varsity wrestling team went 3-0 in their last quad-meet defeating McNeil 66-7, Dripping Springs 46-33, and Cedar Park 46-36.

“A lot of people don’t realize that wrestling is a team sport,” head coach Adam Mclain said. “Each individual match works towards a team score. We had multiple guys step in on late notice to fill in for injured Varsity wrestlers. Not only did they step in, but they were able to win matches and get us points.”

Sophomore Vincent Garcia, freshman Devin Gassaway, senior Ricky Smith, junior Devin Martinez, senior Dylan Watt, junior Marshall Ramsey, sophomore Conrad Russell, junior Isaiah Wood, senior Malcolm Wright-Harris, and senior Alex McGill all picked up a win. Sophomore Lance Reed went 3-0 with 3 pins. Gassaway in his last match pinned his opponent to gain crucial points to defeat Dripping Springs.

“We worked together and coached each other,” Gassaway said. “I am very proud of our performance.”

The wrestling team will be in a tri-meet against Austin High and East View on January 18th at Leander High School.
