With playoffs drawing near, the Lions varsity soccer tied Vista Ridge 0-0, won 1-0 against Vandegrift and won 4-3 against Hays.

“I am hoping that the team can return to full strength by the time the playoffs come,” head coach Russ Girard said. “I really would like the team to be fully fit for such an important part of their season.”

Against Vandegrift, sophomore Eduardo Escobedo scored the only goal of the game. In the game against Hays, sophomores Angel Ruiz and Carr Panetta each grabbed goals, along with junior Kyle Vogel and junior Andrew Zenk who scored the game winner for the Lions to win 4-3.

“[We need to] stay composed and keep working hard as a team on and off the field [to get to playoffs],” Vogel said. “We are going to go in and do everything we can to win [against Lake Travis] since it’s a vital game. We know they’re a hard team, but if we play the right way we have a chance to win.”

The team still has a few scenarios to reach playoffs with being tied at 4th with Vandegrift. They next played against Lake Travis last Friday.
