Student Spotlight Q & A Tamlinn Castellana

What grade are you in?
I’m a senior.

What are you involved in?
I’m in band, I play bass clarinet. I’ve been playing bass clarinet since sophomore year, but I started on the b-flat clarinet in sixth grade.

Do you like the band theme this year?
Yeah, I love it! I think it’s great. I like how it’s kind of different than what we’ve ever done before, and you know it’s my senior year, it’s so much bigger than everything that we’ve done before. Even bigger than last year, and that’s what I love about it.

Do you like being a senior?

Yeah, you get some perks. Like we get food first and stuff.

Do you know where you want to go to college or what you want to do?

I’ve been thinking about going to UNT (University of North Texas) to be a music major to be a band director.

Why do you want to go to UNT?

They’re a really good music school.

Do you take any AP or IB classes?

I take AP English; it’s really fun I love Mrs. Capers.

Do you do things outside of school?

I work at the Philly Grill in the mall, I’m a cashier. They give me free food sometimes, I’ve been working there a couple months.

What’s your favorite type of animal?

Cats. I have two, Olive Oil and Grandpa.

Why’d you name your cats Olive Oil and Grandpa?

Olive Oil because we used to have a cat named Popeye, and so you know, Popeye’s girlfriend’s name is Olive Oil. I don’t know what happened to Popeye. Grandpa cause whenever we got him he was really old, and when he meows he sounds like a really old man.
