Softball falls to Cedar Creek in playoffs

The Lady Lions softball team lost to Cedar Creek in the first round of playoffs. One game was played at home and one was played at Cedar Creek High School. Game 1 ended in 13 innings with a score of 4-6, and Game 2 ended with a score of 0-4.

“I’m super proud of everything that we accomplished,” senior Hailey MacKay said. “I know that a lot of people didn’t expect us to be as successful as we were and I’m just really proud of how hard we worked and how well we competed.”

Senior Hailey MacKay was walked seven times during the two games, she also had two runs, two steals and hit one single. Senior Gabby Walton was walked two times, had four steals, two runs and hit four singles. Junior Katie Hickam was walked three times, hit two singles and had one RBI. Junior Abbey Orlich was walked two times, had one steal and hit two singles. Sophomore Mackenzie Catalina hit two singles and had one RBI. For the seniors, it was their last game of softball playing for the Lady Lions.

“I am really pleased with how I played this year,” Walton said. “I made some good catches in the outfield and hit over .300 at the plate and I’m happy that I was able to get on base as much as I did to help the team score runs.”
