Every Thursday morning at 7:45 am, students congregate in room in 1112 to discuss the Bible and topics surrounding it. The new weekly fellowship was initiated by junior Jordyn Farrar and senior Alyse Balderrama.

“I wanted to start something that would be easily accessible to all students who are interested in learning about Jesus,” Farrar said. “I’m hoping that other people will begin to see the love of God and spread it to others who have yet to know it.”

It helps me grow in my relationship with God and it’s great to have other people there to support me.

The first meeting was on September 2, and was held in Starbucks. The numbers quickly outgrew the biggest table the coffee shop had to offer and the meetings were moved to algebra teacher Bradley Washington’s classroom.

“It’s a really good way to start my day off,” senior Lindsey Resa said. “It motivates me to [talk] about Christianity more, and it’s great to see how happy it makes everyone.”

The meetings start off with the students in attendance each talking about the top three positive things that have occurred within the past few days. After that, they discuss the topic of the week and any bible verses that are relevant to that, as well as openly sharing their interpretations of each passage. The study then ends with everyone holding hands in prayer before leaving to go about their day.

“[I go] to get connected with other people in my school who share my faith,” sophomore Erin McSorley said. “It helps me grow in my relationship with God and it’s great to have other people there to support me.”
