The Youth and Government team were recognized at the LISD board meeting last Thursday for their success in placing five distinguished delegates at state, senior Jared Bouloy, senior Richard Philip, junior Kyle Gehman, sophomore Jesse-elijah Williams and sophomore Bri Branscomb.

“It was really nice to be recognized for my achievement at YG,” Branscomb said. “I wasn’t expecting it to be such a big deal, so seeing that the school district was supporting us was awesome and encouraging.”

The club is now preparing for next year and are recruiting members to join them. Students can go to room 2320 for details.

I think LISD board recognition really helps give kids pride in their accomplishments, as well as a real sense of community.

“It was a great experience. I think LISD board recognition really helps give kids pride in their accomplishments, as well as a real sense of community,” Philip said. “There’s just something about standing up for what you believe in that’s really appealing to me. YG gives you the opportunity to do that, refine your arguments and speaking skills, make friends and just have a ton of fun.”
