The above entree is the grilled shrimp which is $12.99. It comes with hush puppies, rice, green beans and cocktail sauce.

Cherry Creek is a recent addition to Leander that brings Southern cuisine to the table. It earns an overall 4 out of 5 stars for a welcoming atmosphere and comforting food. The restaurant is located at 11840 Old Farm to Market Road 2243 W and currently overlooks a small patch of bluebonnets that can be seen from certain seats.

Some appetizers that caught my attention are the fried mushrooms that come with ranch and the fried green tomatoes. On both items the breading is fairly thin, but in a good way. The taste of tomato is not outshined by breading and the same goes for the mushrooms. The only problem is that the breading tends to fall off easily. They are an must when visiting.

For entrees, the first item that caught my eye was the chicken fried steak. Most people have their own idea of what makes a good chicken fried steak and for me Cherry Creek nailed it. It comes with Texas Toast and a side. The pineapple coleslaw adds a sweet twist to a well known side dish.

Portions are pretty big, but saving room for the Chocolate Lover’s pie is more than worth it. Instead of a crust it has crushed nuts and caramel. There is a thick layer of whipped cream, but it does not outshine the chocolate.

The service was great except for one forgetful server. Other than that the staff is friendly and attentive. The restaurant is pretty spacious and has a country fishing vibe. There is a fairly large waiting area with a lot of room to sit although it is rarely that long of a wait.
