Titan Moon Comics

Titan+Moon+Comics

by Matthew Grissom, Staff Writer

There has been a new store I’ve been going to and it is awesome. I love to read, and I love Marvel and D.C as well. I love all the characters and it was a big part of my childhood. Sadly, there really is not a comic book store near the Leander area. I would always have to drive very long distances just to get one or maybe two issues. When Titan Moon opened up, all my troubles went away.

Titan Moon has everything I, and a lot of people, want: comic books, posters, merchandise, and trading cards. It has so many new comics starring Batman, Superman, Teen Titans, the Avengers, the Guardians of the Galaxy, and so much more. It also has Manga’s for Anime lovers and plenty of cool stuff to keep people busy.

It’s also a very kid friendly place, too. They have a little kid section in the store with puzzles and kid comic books, too. Some are Teen Titans Go!, My Little Pony, and Pokémon. They have a kid section in the store were the kids can build puzzles and read. They have a lot of guests come in to sign or draw pictures of cool things like super heroes or even the customers. It’s really cool to sometimes meet these awesome artists who can draw something awesome in about 2 minutes.

The owners, Adam and Kent Lajaunie, both opened up the store with the help of both their families. I asked them several questions on my interview there.

  1. What inspired you to open up this store?

Kent: “We both grew up in a town with nothing to do. We wanted to open up a store so that kids could come in and have an awesome time.”

Adam: “I used to read comics as a kid, it helped me acclimate to real life and how I wanted to give that to my kids and kids in general.”

  1. What is your favorite comic book or series?

K: “Any X-men, the Punisher, Superman, especially Superman Kingdom Come written in 1996.”

A: “The Infinity Wars series, and Superman #75, The Death of Superman.”

  1. Who’s your favorite super hero and super villain and why?

K: “Superman because he started as a Boy Scout, then death, he got more of a character and a dynamic progression. My favorite antiheroes are Boba Fett and The Punisher. Sure they have a dark side, but they all did good stuff in their stories, too. But my favorite pure villains are Bane and Doomsday.”

A: “Han Solo and Chewbacca, because they are the embodiment of friendship. Han is laid back and very loyal. My favorite villain is Thanos because not only is he really strong, but has very smart and can easily trick his opponents.”

  1. What’s your favorite super hero movies?

K: “The Dark Knight Rises and Spider-Man 2

A: “Guardians of the Galaxy

  1. What are the most difficult parts of running a comic book store?”

Both “Ordering comics. Books are everything. We have a poll list to see what’s most popular at the time. When we run out, we usually keep around ten or twelve issues of the story on the shelf. One of the most popular right know is Ms. Marvel, but the first comic to sell out at our store first was My Little Pony.”

The bottom line is that the owners and the store is awesome. The people who run the store are so nice and they will always help customers find what they are looking for. You can even start your own folder so when a comic you want comes out, they can reserve it for you to make sure you don’t miss it. I just wish it was a little bit bigger. It can get crowded very fast, but they do make up for it due to them moving some stuff around to create more space. The store is located on 1540 Cypress Creek Rd #108, Cedar Park, TX 78613. If you haven’t gone to Titan Moon yet, go right know. Just be sure you go to the store, not the actual moon of Saturn.
