The Lions faced off against the Vandegrift Vipers Tuesday night, and continued their winning streak to 6-1 with a score of 42-27.

“I think we’re just starting to figure things out,” senior David Bonner said. “We had our tournament in Dallas that helped us a lot as a team and we have a lot of confidence going into district.”

The Lions led in the first quarter 9-6 with junior Chase Cotton scoring five points in the quarter and junior Kristian Murphy scoring a three pointer. The Lions then fell behind in the second quarter with a score of 12-16.

“I felt like I made a decent contribution to the win,” Cotton said. “I helped my team when they needed me the most.”

Senior David Bonner scored six points in the second half to bring the Lions back to the lead 24-23. Junior Kobe Thompson also scored four points in the quarter. The Lions then scored a total of 18 points in the final quarter with Bonner scoring five more points, totaling out to 11 points in the game. Cotton finished 12 points in the game. The Lions won the game 42-27 against the Vipers with a 15 point margin.

“We’re just going to stick to what we’ve been taught all year,” Bonner said. “We just have to stick to our principles, play hard and play as a team and hopefully get the win [against Cedar Park].”
