Racing to Regionals
Track sets personal records at Area

The boys and girls track team competed in the Area track meet at D.W. Rutledge Stadium on April 19 and 20.
“I am extremely proud of my girls,” Girls’ Head Coach Gigi Heermans said. “They did a great job competing at a very tough 6A meet. A lot of people underestimate us when we show up at the meets, but I just tell my girls, ‘They don’t know what we’re capable of.’ ”
Junior Busi Banda placed 4th in shot put. She set a personal record of 35-2.5.
“I’m looking forward to competing to my best ability at regionals,” junior Busi Banda said. “I have made a lot of new friends this year and I will definitely be back next season to compete with them.”
Both teams had several new personal records set at district. Junior Gavin Davis got first place in the boys varsity 400 meter dash.

The teams will be competing at Regionals at Heroes Stadium in San Antonio on April 28 and 29.
