The Lady Lions varsity softball team has clinched their playoff spot after a win 10-5 at Eastview. The Lady Lions then faced a tough defeat against Vista Ridge during senior night.

“I was so excited,” senior Shelby Irlbeck said. “We worked together during district to achieve our goal of advancing to playoffs. Now we have to continue to play together as a team.”

After the first inning the Lady Lions were down 1-0. The rest of the innings were scoreless resulting in Vista Ridge winning 1-0.

“I think we played Vista Ridge better than we did the first time,” Irlbeck said. “We were more relaxed, but played harder than we did before.”

The JV Lady Lions also faced a tough defeat with a score of 6-3 against the JV Lady Rangers. After the first inning the Lady Lions were down 1-0 against Vista Ridge. In the second inning Vista Ridge scored three times making it a 4-0 game. After the third the Lady Lions scored three times to make it a 5-3 game. The next inning featured another Lady Rangers run, and the final inning was scoreless resulting in Vista Ridge winning 6-3.

“I think we did decent,” sophomore Adrienne Ousley said. “We weren’t hitting very well, and they kept hitting to places we weren’t so I think that was a factor in our loss.”

The Lady Lions have already clinched the playoffs but still have one more game for the regular season at Dripping Springs. JV is at 5, and varsity is at 7.
