The Lady Lions varsity softball team defeated Georgetown last week in extra innings. The game finished in the ninth inning with the final score being 12-11. The team registered 20 hits, 11 RBIs, 19 singles and one triple hit.

“We stayed loud in the dugout, strung together base hits, ran the bases smart and stayed positive even when Georgetown pulled ahead,” senior Gabby Walton said. “We did a really good job playing as a team.”

After the third inning Georgetown was ahead 3-2. The game became tied 10-10 after the seventh inning. It took the extra two innings before the game was finished with the Lady Lions getting another win to become 5-3 in district play.

I think that’s the best team win we’ve had all year for sure and it was just so much fun.

“I think we played fantastic,” senior Hailey MacKay said. “We had one rough inning where Georgetown went up 7-2 but we never let the score get to us and we just kept chipping away at their lead with single after single. I think that’s the best team win we’ve had all year for sure and it was just so much fun.”

Today, the Lady Lions battle Vandegrift at home at 7.
