The tennis team returned victorious from last week’s Cedar Park-Vista Ridge tournament last Friday. With this, mixed doubles team senior Adhi Balaji and junior Emilie Scanlon defeated Cedar Park to win the Mixed Doubles Division 1 consolation final 8-4.

“Our opponents were from Cedar Park, so we were determined to beat our rivals.” Scanlon said. “They played consistently and were leading in the game at first, but Adhithya and I were able to overcome their lead and win in the end.”

Scanlon also explained what helped them win this tournament.

“I think our communication skills really helped us lot in this tournament,” Scanlon said. “Communication, in my opinion, is essential to winning in tennis.”

Another doubles team victory was from junior Lauren Fuller and sophomore Abby Parker who defeated Cedar Park to win the Girls’ Doubles Division 1 consolation 8-6.

“We played matches against Boys Doubles and over the weekends practiced with each other,” Parker said.

She, too, brought up what her and her partner did to achieve victory.

“It’s all just about communication,” Parker said. “It’s hard to win without communication.”

On March 10th the tennis team will be heading to Lake Travis to take part in the Lake Travis Tournament at 8:00 a.m.
