The track team hosted the Lion Relays at home at Bible Stadium and finished in 3rd place out of the 12 teams.

“We focused on finishing strong and giving it our all consistently,” sophomore Ruben Luna said. “Which it showed with us getting third.”

The top finishes were as follows. Sophomore Gavin Davis placed 1st in the 400 and 800 meter dash, the 4X400 meter relay team won 2nd, junior Juan Ruiz won 2nd in the 110 meter hurdles and junior Derek Voss won 1st in pole vault.

“What has helped me is being able to find something to keep my mind of the pain and focus on the task of running to the best of my ability,” Davis said. “Also, running fast and turning left. [I’m looking forward to district for] being able to run against harder competition and having to push myself both physically and mentally in order to race them. I really love competition, that’s what I live for.”

Next up the varsity track team will compete at the Texas Relays at the University of Texas from March 31 to April 2.

We focused on finishing strong and giving it our all consistently.
