Rumors have spread ever since the Sony emails leak about Spider-Man joining Marvel studios. Now, with a long term deal Marvel and Sony have agreed to let Marvel Studios make Spider-Man movies and include Spider-Man in (possibly) The Avengers and other Marvel movies.

However, Marvel will not use Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man and will instead use a different actor that has not been named yet. So far, Spider-Man has been confirmed to appear in Captain America: Civil War and Marvel has also shifted their release schedule to fit in a standalone Spider-Man movie. The new movies will still be creatively controlled by Sony Pictures but Marvel will now be able to use Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

Sony will release its next installment of Spider-Man on July 28, 2017 while Captain America: Civil War is set to release on May 6, 2016. Nothing has been said on how Spider-Man will appear in the film but many Marvel and superhero fans are excited to see Spider-Man join Marvel Studios. It has not been confirmed if Spider-Man will join The Avengers films yet. Marvel will now be able to welcome their friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.
