Musical Marching Into Place

76 trombones will be leading the big parade of “The Music Man” into the Performing Arts Center from Thursday January 23 – Saturday January 25 at 8 p.m. and Sunday January 26 at 2 p.m.

Harold Hill, played by senior Gavin Barron, a conman, comes to a small town advertising a boy’s marching band. Hill thinks it will be a simple and easy con, like all the others he has pulled off, but the tables turn when Hill tries to deceive Marian Paroo, played by senior Kindra Ferguson, in order to make his plans go smoothly. Will Hill get caught? Or will Hill be able to make his escape?

“[The audience can expect] a good time,” Barron said. “It’s not one of the more well-known shows, especially by the newer generations…but if you give it a chance, you’ll really be enchanted by the atmosphere of it.”

The cast and crew make up about 60 students, and will include members of Leander’s own marching band in the orchestra. These numbers do not include all of the students, parents, and community members that have helped put this show onto the stage for the past couple months.
