Graduating seniors will receive a heartfelt surprise due to HOSA’s annual “Kiss a Senior Goodbye” fundraiser.
“It benefits the school as a whole”, Afraz Hussein said. “We run [the fundraiser] for a long time, so that ensures that we get as many letters as possible.”
For the last four weeks during lunch students and teachers pen encouraging letters, delivered with Hershey’s Kisses during graduation practice.
“People want to write letters to their favorite seniors,” Hussein said.
The initiative ensures every senior feels celebrated and appreciated, even if no one writes a letter HOSA members step in to write extra letters to those who don’t receive anything. The fundraiser helps strengthen community bonds while funding future projects for our chapter.
“By the end, we run it for a long time, so that ensures that we get as many letters as possible,” Hussein said. “We make sure everyone gets a letter to make graduation special.”
Hussein said the dollar donations cover supplies for the fundraiser itself, but if the quota is not met, the club fills gaps to guarantee no senior is left out. Preparations involve envelopes, sign-up sheets, and tracking letters for over 200 seniors.
“We mark off each senior’s name so it’s fair,” Hussein said. “The impact helps our community grow stronger together.”
