Sarah Mitchell moved across the country to finish her senior year here, leaving behind her former life and friends. This may have been a huge bummer for some, but Sarah made the best out of the situation and learned more about herself by moving and is looking forward to more surprises in her future that will come with becoming an adult and living on her own.

“Although this is at the end of my high school years, I think moving to a new school for my senior year has been the biggest point of high school,” Mitchell said.  “It has been the coolest experience to move states and meet new people and find new opportunities. Even though it wasn’t easy, I think moving schools has been the best part of high school.”

Finishing high school outside of her original school helped Mitchell learn more about what she wants to do when she graduates. She plans to return home to study nursing at Brigham Young University in Idaho.

“High school has helped me prepare for college by providing a way for me to discover what I want for a career,” Mitchell said. “I have been able to find what I enjoy most and it motivates me to get good grades too.”

Like some other soon-to-be graduates, she is excited to start her life as a young adult without her parents, who will actually be moving out of the country this coming summer.

“I am really looking forward to living on my own and the excitement of being and adult,” Mitchell said. “I will definitely miss my family but I’m excited to see what life has in store for me.”
