College Night

LHS will be hosting the LISD College and Career Fair on Thursday, Sept. 30 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Booths will be set up in the Commons and Middle Gym, with 110 to 115 colleges and universities from all over the country, including one international college from Switzerland.

This is a district wide event that brings “at least 2000” students and parents to come and learn about colleges. Attending students will receive information on application processes and standards, campus living, tuition, credits and the schools in general. Mrs. Fran Eggleston, our school’s counseling secretary, urges the importance of college night.

“It gives the chance for students to come and meet with representatives and the people who will most likely be reading and dealing with their applications”, she said. Students can also receive personal business cards from the college representatives if they have any further questions.

There will be a wide variety of schools ranging from Austin Community College and other junior colleges to Harvard and Duke University and even the U.S. Air Force and Army Academies.

All students and parents are welcome to come and talk to Universities. Be sure to check it out and get all the information you need to prepare for college life. “Don’t miss this! It is a once a year opportunity”, Eggleston added.
