Hunter Gage Wins the Terry Scholarship
May 30, 2014
Senior Hunter Gage received the Terry Scholarship, giving him a full ride to The University of Texas in Dallas.
The Terry Foundation is a Houston-based scholarship program founded to provide scholarships to outstanding Texas high school graduates and transfer scholars to attend public colleges and universities in Texas. The program was established in 1986 and has helped thousands of scholars in the state attend school. Candidates for the scholarship are nominated by the universities affiliated with the Terry Foundation.
In order to receive the Terry Scholarship, Gage had to complete an 11-page application and answer five short answer responses. Gage also had to write two essays, get two letters of recommendation and fill out his entire economic history.
“I was really surprised and happy too,” Gage said. “I had to put in a lot of hard work to get this scholarship.”
Gage is so thankful for this scholarship that many students across the state had the opportunity to apply for.
“If you can apply for the Terry Scholarship do it,” Gage said. “There is nothing wrong with them saying no.”
Gage will be studying computer science at UT Dallas.
