Student Spotlight: Jonathan Rivera

Jonathan Rivera, junior, plays the saxophone in the band. His band director, Mr.Selaiden, is his favorite teacher. “He pushes me to my limit and he’s very passionate about what he does,” Rivera said.

One word that Jonathan would use to describe himself is “ambitious.” His schoolwork is important to him.

“This year has been easier because I’ve actually been doing my work,” Jonathan said. The only thing that he worries about is surviving Mr.Warner’s physics class.

Jonathan’s favorite thing about Leander is the diversity. If he ran the school, he would change the music that is played during passing periods.

The first three songs on Jonathan’s iPod are “Spacebabe” by Twinsister, “Video Games” by Lana Del Ray, and “Oblivion” by Grimes.

“I’m kind of obsessed with  buying iPhone cases on Amazon,” Jonathan said. He is also not afraid to admit that he can twerk.

The cherry slushy is his favorite drink from Sonic. The last book that he read was Looking for Alaska by John Green.
