The FFA hosted their first show of the year for schools all around Central Texas at the Greater Leander Livestock and Project Show. They had seven champions in different groups and four first place winners.

“I believe the Leander FFA students did very well at our show,” Agriculture teacher Mrs. Veraa said. “Our students understand what a commitment it is to raise an animal and enter a project. A lot of time and energy goes into these projects that most people don’t see. The dedication our students have to learning about the project and the time spent before school, after school, weekends, and holidays make all the difference when it comes to show.”

Students spent almost all day at the showroom behind the agriculture classroom showing all types of animals and their projects. The animals shown were chickens, rabbits, goats, sheep and pigs. The projects were either horticulture or agriscience.

“It was great seeing everyone’s hard work really pay off,” sophomore Alex Popp said. “I think it’s good for people to learn the important lessons that go into participating in FFA.”

The FFA program’s next event will be the Greater Leander Project Show after school on Wednesday, January 13th at 6:30 PM.

“What makes me proud of the students in FFA every single day is the way they help one another in addition to people they have just met,” Mrs. Veraa said. “While they are in the show ring or at a contest they are competing, but as soon as they leave the ring they are a giant family that supports one another. The willingness to assist each other and always support one another says a lot about their character, and that makes me incredibly proud of every single member.”
