Putting ‘Human’ in Humane
C-Squared to Host Annual Fall Forum
November 14, 2014
The anti-bullying organization, C-Squared, will be hosting their annual Fall Forum November 14. This year’s theme is ‘Be Humane.’
The forum is where students from the elementary, middle, and high school levels come together and discuss ways to prevent, detect, and stand-up against bullying. Students also discuss ways to improve the organization at each school, taking what they learn from the forum to their own campus.
“We talked about what we felt like what the issues were that needed to be addressed,” sponsor Sarah Ambrus said, “and one of them was treating people humanely. Also that we’re all human and we make mistakes.”
Not only do they learn prevention from speakers, but they also become a closer family by playing games.
“We discuss a topic that is associated with the game,” senior Anthony Bernard said, “and we connect to each other.”
The theme was developed at the beginning of the year, and students and sponsors have had meetings ever since twice a week every week in order to pull this off.
“We have four sponsors now,” Ambrus said. “We’re going to have over 700 hundred kids, 22 schools.”
It isn’t too late to join the organization, but it is too late to attend the Fall Forum. Students who desire to join must show up to a meeting, apply, and get interviewed by other members. Meetings are in room 1222 after school Wednesdays and before school Thursdays.
