Teacher Spotlight: Amber Hall
HOSA teacher takes on cheer team
September 11, 2019
In the past six years, one could usually find teacher Amber Hall in room 2111 teaching a health science class or helping a HOSA student. But this year, she’s breaking out of her classroom walls and into the gym. This year, Hall is taking on the role of varsity cheer coach.
“[It’s been] challenging but rewarding,” Hall said. “It has been hard to come in and change how the program is run. [However,] the assistant coach and I have high expectations.”
Although Hall has no previous cheer experience, Hall said she receives daily support from assistant coach Omar Gudino.
“I learn something new every day,” Hall said. “We have struggled with implementing new policies for the returners, but we are working through the growing pains.”
Even with her new responsibilities, Hall still teaches health science classes alongside fellow health science teacher Kelly Deputy.
“In the medical field you work as a team,” Deputy said. “The health science department works the same way. I see Mrs. Hall and I as a team. If one of us is having a particular problem, the other one is there to help out.”
Hall said this year she hopes to grow the health science program and improve school spirit.
