Choir to show off with Disney songs

End-of-year recital to be ‘fun and kind of silly’

A night of Disney-themed musical performances is set to be put on by the all choirs today. The annual showcase is meant to display the students’ work and improvement throughout the year.

“While preparing for the show, we learn the music we will sing,” sophomore Chloé Orovio said. “I always thought it was fun and kind of silly. You just get to dance and have fun singing music everyone likes.”

In order to capitalize on creativity, choir director Christian Clow allows students in show choir to choreograph their own dances, which will then be learned by all students.

“Everyone in the show is committed to the performance,” sophomore Violet Brewer said. “We work very hard every class to try and put on the best concert we can. I like being a part of a group where we all love music.”

Within the performance, solos are given with equal opportunity to students, including freshman Evangeline Hardie, who admitted she was “pleasantly surprised” when she was given the part.

“I think it’s been really fun,” Hardie said. “I’ve never done something like this before at all seeing as it’s my first year in choir ever. But even so, the people I’ve talked to that have done choir before have been having fun as well.”

Singing songs from Disney’s ‘Brave,’ ‘Tangled,’ ‘Tarzan,’ ‘Teen Beach Movie,’ ‘Mulan,’  and more, audiences can expect a night full of talent and “Disney magic,” Hardie said.

“I am supper pumped to be singing some of my favorite Disney songs for so many people,” Hardie said. “I think that this show is gonna be a big hit and I hope they continue it for years to come.”
