On May 16, the student council hosted the Powder Puff Game at Bible Stadium. The game involved juniors against seniors, with the football teams entirely female players. In addition, there were boy coaches and cheerleaders who helped instruct and support the girls during the game.
“My favorite part of Powder Puff was just being with everyone,” senior Coach Nicholas Parsons said. “Knowing it was our final event for senior year and that everyone always enjoyed it, we came into it with positive spirits. It made me a lot more passionate as a coach to try and get the seniors to win this game knowing how excited all of them were to be there and play.”
As an all-female football team, the players had to navigate various obstacles as the game progressed.
“The most challenging part for me was quickly learning the play in the huddle and getting lined up,” senior Jessica Egelsee said. “We started to get into rhythm and understand how the plays work. I think this helped my team succeed in our execution of the plays.”
As per Powder Puff tradition, the girls played, and the guys provided support. This involved cheering, flips, and even some attempted stunts to energize the crowd and motivate the team.
“What I succeeded most in was cheering the juniors on for victory and getting in the senior’s heads,” junior Ziyaan Karowalia said. “It felt like it was an intense rivalry. Also, hyping the crowd up and throwing some of the seniors off their game with friendly banter.”
Powder Puff was a memorable game for players and spectators, as it embodied teamwork, competition, and spirit. An unforgettable event for the seniors as they wrapped up the 2024-2025 school year.
