On Monday and Tuesday, members of the tennis team and the faculty team up in a tennis tournament. This tournament was a fun way for the tennis team and faculty to play together. The winners of the tournament this year are Coach Michaela Settlemeyer and senior Ryan Joseph.
Senior Ryan Joseph: “My coach says it’s mandatory to play in the faculty tournament for seniors, but it’s a fun last tournament for us to play. My favorite part of the tournament had to be winning the last match. We were up for a while in the beginning and then our opponents started a comeback, but we were able to pull through in the end, so it was a lot of fun. It certainly felt good to win because I got a huge trophy for it. This tournament is more of a lighthearted fun tournament, so that summarizes the feeling pretty well and this is also my best performance in this tournament throughout the years. It feels good to go out on a big win.”
Coach Michaela Settlemeyer: “I wanted to play because after all these years, I am still so competitive. I love being involved in school events where I get to interact with kids I don’t see on a daily basis. My favorite part of the tournament was playing with Ryan; he was so encouraging, despite my lack of tennis talent. Then, of course, winning first place and taking home the trophy. I have little to no experience playing tennis, so when we won in the championship match, undefeated through four games, it felt amazing. I was also so excited for Ryan to win first place, especially when he’s been so close the last couple of years.”
