Five things to do while stuck at home

by Arie Shaver, Reporter

With the issue from the government to stay at home due to the dreadful CoronaVirus, people are now more bored than ever. People have emptied out their Netflix watchlist, ate themselves to death, and slept until they couldn’t feel their legs anymore. But now, it seems like there is nothing left to do. However, when all else fails, there are five things that you can always do while stuck in lockdown.

  • Play games with family

If you haven’t already killed each other, playing board games is a way that you can have fun while spending quality time with your family. You’re never too old for a good game of  Monopoly or Scrabble, so why not make the most of your time at home and strengthen your relationship with one another. Not only that, but games tend to increase everyone’s mood, and allow for a bunch of laughs which is sure to brighten everyone up.

  • Exercise

With staying at home all day and eating more than usual, it is easy to gain a few pounds. Moreover, it is important for you to engage in activity. If the local gym is closed, why not try some simple workouts at home to stay active. Try dancing to dance workout videos, knocking out a few crunches, or cardio exercises that you can do at home. If you’re not sure what kind of workouts to do at home, you can find videos on youtube as well as download apps to help you get in shape. You can even take a stroll through the neighborhood when the sun goes down, but make sure to practice social distancing.

  • Do some spring cleaning

For many, organizing things is not their cup of tea. However, if you’re someone who enjoys organization or remodeling, why not take this time to throw away things you don’t need, clean out your closets, or renovate your bedrooms. You can even paint your room or old furniture, and create a new arrangement for your possessions. Try getting rid of the cluttered space in your room, and don’t forget to dust  those old and unused spaces.

  • Online shopping

So maybe you can’t splurge at the mall, but you can definitely splurge online right now. There are many sales going on in all of our favorite stores, and it would be crazy not to partake in them. You can get shirts for as low as five dollars and jeans for as low as $15. The deals are endless, and some stores are even offering free shipping if you spend a certain amount. Prices are decreasing quickly, and it would be best to jump on the bandwagon before these offers run out.

  • Create a new watchlist

Ok so maybe you’ve completely watched everything that you found interesting on Netflix, or you went through all the movies and tv shows on Hulu that caught your eye. Well, why not try switching platforms. If you’re a hardcore Netflix junkie, switch to Hulu and create a new watchlist, or if you’re a hardcore Hulu junkie, switch to Netflix. But, if you’re addicted to both platforms, try doing something you wouldn’t normally do. Maybe stop watching American tv shows, and watch a K-drama or an anime, or maybe switch to cartoons. You can even try out Disney plus if you haven’t, and binge watch the Disney classics and new movies. Also, if you watch a lot of romance and comedy, maybe try watching a thriller or a sci-fi movie. There’s also these things that many people don’t know about, and it’s called the tv networks. Maybe let the network pick for you. See what’s playing on the tv channels, and choose something random. Who knows what you might discover with a new watchlist.
