The sequel to Marvel’s The Avengers came out on May 1st with an earning of $187 million opening day.

The plot of the movie is like many other superheroes vs supervillains movies. Although the whole “take over the world” plan has been done to death it’s still done right under Marvel. So, basically the story is still great, and it’s awesome to see The Avengers back in action. It is also nice to see some more character development of our heroes as well, and this movie shows heavy character development before getting into the final battle. Throughout the movie we also get teases of future Marvel projects which can only get me more excited. The humor also added a nice light-hearted touch to a slightly dark movie.

The action was superb. The computer-generated imagery (CGI) did not take you away from the movie. The action was very well executed and all of The Avengers had their own awesome moment.

Although many enjoy the movie there are a few things that director Joss Whedon should’ve done differently. In short, Ultron isn’t the villain many might have expected. He’s not the scariest and honestly not the most intelligent like in his other adaptations in the comics and cartoons. The movie also sometimes confused me by the lack of explaining. Whedon had to probably cut too many scenes that went a little more depth about certain plot points, but I wish he hadn’t. Hopefully they will release an extended edition like The Lord of the Rings that would put everything together into a six hour movie of awesomeness.

In the end, Avengers: Age of Ultron gets a 8.5/10. The movie is great and I recommend everyone to see it, but the mistakes in the movie cost it some points. Marvel Studios is a powerhouse at this point and all of their movies are fantastic so far. Hopefully they can iron out the small/big mistakes that lessen the awesomeness of superhero movies. I’m sure they will. Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is almost in full swing, but first let’s see what Ant-Man has in store for us.
