Mass Effect 3 is the final game of the Mass Effect trilogy.

The story mainly focuses on the fight against the Reapers as they have attacked Earth. Shepard, due to his missions with Cerberus in Mass Effect 2, was stripped of the Normandy and was relieved of command, and was under surveillance for the time he stayed there. When the Reapers attacked, Shepard regained the Normandy, escaped, and was given an order to gain help from the council by Captain Anderson. When Shepard gets back on the ship, he is given an extra mission by Admiral Hackett to go to Mars. On Mars, they run into Liara T’ Soni and she tells Shepard and his crew that there are plans made by the Protheans to build a weapon that could destroy the Reapers. Cerberus is also there and Shepard learns that Cerberus and the Illusive Man want to control the Reapers. Thus, the war has begun and it is a race to unite all of the alien species to fight the Reapers.

Gameplay wise, many of the gameplay features in Mass Effect 2 transferred over to Mass Effect 3. Now, however, every class can use every weapon with ease, which is a huge benefit. Also, weapon mods have been created to add advantages to weapons. The player is able to maneuver around the battlefield easier as well by having the ability to climb over cover and quickly run out of cover, making the gameplay faster. Heavy weapons are only randomly found on the ground during combat and are no longer in the player’s load out.

With all of this in mind, Mass Effect 3 deserves a 8/10. The game gets this rating because although the story is great, it’s very confusing without purchasing the Downloadable Contents (DLCs), and this is a setback as the player has to buy more of the story to fully grasp the plot, but overall the game is great. If people don’t mind purchasing DLCs, then everyone should give it a shot.
