The JV Boys’ basketball team beat Rouse Tuesday night with a final score of 56-50. Sophomores Ruben Luna and Riley Reagan were in the top scorers for the first half of the game with Luna scoring eight points and Reagan scoring seven. Junior Blane Smith made two three pointers in the first half. The team scored 35 points as a whole in the two first quarters.

“As a team we had good ball movement and shot the ball great as well,” Smith said. “When it came down to it, our hustle won us the game.”

The team scored nine points in the third quarter and twelve in the fourth bringing their final score to 56. They made five out of nine free-throws in the second half of the game. Luna, Reagan and Smith were the top scorers of this half as well with Junior Kevone Graham contributing three points in the fourth.

“I thought it was a great start,” JV coach Will McNeil said. “Everybody played really good and everybody contributed. It was nice to come out with a win for the first game of the year.”

The boys next game will be Monday, November 23 against Liberty Hill. It will be an away game. They will also be playing a tournament this upcoming Saturday.

My name is Austin Graham and this is my third year to be on the staff of The Roar and my second year as the Assistant Editor. I love dogs more than anything in the entire world and also Cane’s which is where I work(I kinda hate it too though, it’s complicated). I am also part of the Advanced Theatre class and take part in the mainstage plays that our troupe does. I’m excited to teach people new things and to help everyone along the way!

Hello, my name is Jack Densmore. If I had the ability to be Liam Neeson for a day I would. Not only has he trained Obi-Wan Kenobi, but also Batman. Also I would have a special set of skills. If Hollywood made a movie of me, and if I couldn’t be cast as myself I would want Joseph Gordon Levitt to play me. I am currently writing an autobiography of my life and experiences. My favorite movie of all time is Tommy Boy, and my favorite book of all time is probably The Hobbit. My favorite sport is football which I played peewee football in elementary school, but I decided not to continue playing. A hobby I have is making YouTube videos. I make YouTube videos not only because it’s fun, but because I also get paid to basically play video games, edit the footage, and upload it which is awesome. I’m happiest when I’m with the people I care most about (my adviser, staff, friends, family). I wouldn’t be the same person without them, and I thank them all for making me who I am, and for helping me grow as a better person everyday.
