The Lions lost 43-38 in a close game against Dripping Springs, ending their season and their chance for playoffs.

The game didn’t begin as the players had hoped, although they came into the game focused on their goal. The boys trailed throughout, but eventually fell too far behind to catch up.

“Our first quarter was kind of bad, so it pretty much set the tone for the game,” sophomore JP Stevens said.

Outstanding players include sophomore Kobe Thompson with 16 points, seven rebounds and three assists; junior David Bonner with five points and three rebounds; and senior Daniel Black with three points and two assists.

For Black and Mahoney, their high school basketball careers are over. While Mahoney does not plan to continue the sport in college, Black plans to continue basketball at Texas Lutheran University or Concordia University. They leave these parting words for next year’s team.

“You just have to outwork everyone,” Black said, “and really commit to getting better every single day.”
