With a season opener win 39-36 against Anderson High School at home, winning the Silver Bracket Championship at the San Marcos Tournament, and having a 14-10 overall record, the Lions are going strong.

“We just wanted to have a really good start, which we did, we accomplished that,” junior Graham Warner said.

The latest opponent the Lions faced was the Dripping Springs Tigers. The boys fought hard, but lost 47-40.

“We were hyped,” said junior Daniel Black.

The ball was tipped to the Tigers, and a score was quick to follow. Throughout the game, the Lions played catch up, never taking over, but never falling far behind.

“We felt like we were right there,” Balck said.

In the end, there just wasn’t enough time on the clock.

“We just wanted to get out and get a win, but it didn’t happen,” Black said.

Outstanding players of the game were juniors Graham Warner and Joseph Mahoney, and senior Calvin McBride.

The next game for the Lions is against the Rouse Raiders at home at 7 p.m.
