Overtime battle results in win

By Ben Fischer

With a pre season record of 15 and 5, the Leander Boy’s Basketball team brought on the first district win last Friday (Jan 7) against Round Rock. It was a nail biter all the way through. But finally in overtime the boys hard work paid off in a one point victory, 50-49.

“The best part of the game was the team’s defense in overtime. The kids stuck together and battled to the end. It means a lot because our district is tough, and every win is much needed,” Clint Bradley, coach, said.

Captains Mark Nwakamma and Micah Eargle led the players in Friday nights victory against Round Rock, as well as Marketh Biscoe and Donald McBride, all seniors.

In a tremendous defensive battle, neither team left anything on the floor. Starting off their season at 1 and 1, The Lions will host The Stony Point Tigers tomorrow (Tuesday) night in The Den. JV tip off at 6 p.m. followed by Varsity at 7:30 p.m.
