In the first game of the Freshmen Red football season, the Lions tied the Pflugerville Connally Cougars 6-6.

In the second game, the Lions had a disappointing loss against the Pflugerville Hendrickson Hawks last week with a score of 20-0.

In the first quarter, the Hawks scored with three minutes and three seconds left on the clock. The Hawks fumbled the ball on the field goal, but recovered it starting with a score of 6-0. By the end of the first half, the score was 12-0 Hawks.

In the third quarter, the Hawks made a touchdown with three minutes and 44 seconds left, but there was a holding on the offense, a 10 yard penalty, which made it a first down with 35 yards to go.

With 42 seconds left in the game, the Hawks scored and went for a two-point conversion which made the score 20-0. With time ticking down, the Lions fought with all their might, but came up short.

“Well, we’d like the outcome to be better. Obviously we’d like to be on the winning end, but like I said, the main thing is our kids playing hard,” Clint Harper, head coach, said, “and if we win, that’s a bonus, but if we can get them to play hard then that’s, that’s what my main goal is on the sublevels.”

The game against Manor was cancelled due to weather. Next week, the Freshmen Red team will be going up against Pflugerville High School at Kuemple Stadium at 5:30 p.m.

The first game for the Freshmen Blue team was a victory against the Pflugerville Connally Cougars with a score of 18-0. Last week, the Lions lost 38-8 against the Pflugerville Hendrickson Hawks.

The game against the Manor Mustangs was cancelled due to weather. The next game for the Blue Team will be at Kuemple Stadium in Pflugerville starting at 7:30 p.m.
