Senior Michael Epley has played football since he was in third grade and joined after his father suggested it. Now he will be joining 76 other young men in the chance to play and win the Texas High School Coaches Association’s All Star Football Game.

Epley was voted to join the team by coaches in the surrounding area to participate in the All Star Game.

“It’s a great honor because only the best players in Texas get to play in [the game],” Epley said. “Only 32 players on each team get to play throughout the whole state of Texas.”

There’s a North Side and a South Side team with all Texas High School seniors playing on each other’s team.

“I don’t know anybody,” Epley said, “but I’ll meet everybody July16 when we first meet.”

The boys will have roughly one week to get to know and practice with each other before game day.

“We’re gonna get a playbook to see all the plays, but we’re just gonna go out there playing good on good,” Epley said, “and see who’s more talented, on the North side or the South side.”

Not only will he be preparing for the All Star Game, but he’ll also be preparing to play for college.

“I’m going to go to Southern Methodist University,” Epley said. “I leave July 1 to go play there.”

The game will be played at the Alamodome in San Anonio. Tickets will be available at the door for $10 each. The game will also be televised on Fox Sports Southwest.
