Junior Varsity Off to a Strong Start

The JV Red team started off the season with a win against the Vista Ridge Rangers 48-0.

In the second game against the Pflugerville Hendrickson Hawks, the Lions won with a score of 16-0.

The defense, offense, and special teams played well against the tough Hawks. Sophomore quarterback Ben Douglas was 5 of 8 passing with two touchdowns; Jonathan Permenter, sophomore, had a 25 yard touchdown reception; and Joseph Sanchez, sophomore, had a 20 yard touchdown reception. At the end of the first half, Nico Cortes, sophomore, hit a 36 yard field goal leaving the Lions with a score of 9-0.

Big defensive plays were made by Cameron Shoemaker, sophomore, with a blocked punt and Andrew Wheeler, sophomore, intercepted a pass.

The game against Georgetown High School was cancelled due to lightning. The next game for the Lions is a home game against Pflugerville High School at 5:30 p.m.

The first game of the JV Blue season was a home game versus Pflugerville Connally High School with the Lions winning 26-0.

The second game of the season was an away game last Thursday against Pflugerville Hendrickson High School with the Lions winning 30-14.

The defense and special teams were the major players of the game. Dave Alfaro, sophomore, blocked a punt and the defense recovered two fumbles which gave the Lions great field position. When Hendrickson threw a pass for a two-point play, Chad Lemons was right there to pick it off. Lemons scored a touchdown with a 101-yard run.

On the offensive line, Seth Odom, junior, Jason Hoffman, junior, Hunter Gregory, junior, and Ryan Rood, junior, gave the Hendrickson defense trouble. Malik Abdul, junior, and David Hilbun, junior, both scored touchdowns, and Darian McClatcher, sophomore, had many big runs during the game.

Yesterday, the Lions had their first loss of the season against the Manor Mustangs with a score of 16-14. The next game is a home game against Pflugerville High School at 7:30 p.m.
