JV Lions Defeated by the Marble Falls Mustangs

The JV Red and Blue teams came together to form a “Purple Team” to play against the Marble Falls Mustangs, who only has one JV team, on Thursday, October 16 at AC Bible.
In the beginning of the first quarter, the Lions secured a safety, taking the lead in the game with a two-zero score. Shortly after, there was a false start against Leander. Once the ball was back in play, a recovery was made by #3 Eric Love. A second false start was called against the Mustangs. A penalty was called against the Mustangs as well, but it was declined. No other advances were made in the 1st quarter.
An interception made by the Mustangs started off the second quarter. After an incomplete pass meant for Lion player JJ Larson, the Mustangs secured a touchdown taking the lead with a score of six-two. After an unsuccessful 2-point conversion, a foul was called against Leander. Afterward, another foul was called against the Mustangs. No other advances were made in the first half.
Starting off in the second half, there was a fumble made by the Mustangs. Soon after, a foul was called against Leander. A recovery was made by the Mustangs, which was quickly followed by Lion player James Lefner who sent the ball out of bounds. The Mustangs secured a second touchdown at the end of the third quarter resulting in a score of 12-two. After an unsuccessful 2-pt conversion, the 3rd quarter came to an end.
At the beginning of the 4th quarter, a timeout was called by the Mustangs. After the timeout, Lion player Kyle Irlbeck secured a touchdown for the Lions resulting in a score of 12-eight. A false start was called against Leander, and almost immediately after, a false start was called against the Mustangs. A penalty was called against Marble Falls after Jai Garcia caught a punted ball at the 19 yard line. Lion player David Dorsey’s hand-off was knocked out of bounds before a reception was made by Lion player Atreyo Salinas. Leander called 2 timeouts before the clock ran out, and no other advances were made. The final score was 12-8, Marble Falls taking the victory.
“We’re just a bunch of dudes working hard,” JV Red player Brandon Beitia said.
