JV/Freshman Football: Taking on the Tigers/Rangers

by Claire Kyllonen, Staff Writer

The Junior Varsity and Freshmen football teams experienced some mixed emotions this week as the teams took on the Dripping Springs Tigers (except for JV Red who challenged the Vista Ridge Rangers).

The JV teams battled away, at Tiger Stadium and Vista Ridge High School.

The JV Blue team final score against the Tigers was a victory: 26-22. The JV Red team final score was 14-21 in favor of Vista Ridge.

“The kids played really hard, extremely aggressive, which is good to continue to go at the end of the year to build success,” JV Offense Line Coach John Contrucci said. “Even though we’ve struggled some, it’s good to see that they’re still playing hard and that every game means something.”

Meanwhile, the Freshman teams played back to back at home in Bible Stadium.

The Freshman Red final score was a victory against the Tigers with a final score of 44-28. The Freshman Blue team final score was 15-28 in favor of Dripping Springs.

“[During the Freshman Blue game] we just dug ourselves into a hole too early and couldn’t get out it,” Freshman Coach Clay Richards said.

The JV and Freshman football teams get a week off of playing before it’s time to take on their final opponent, the Marble Falls Mustangs. Come support your JV teams as they play the Mustangs at Bible Stadium at 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. and your Freshman teams as they play at Mustang Stadium at 5:30 p.m. on 7:30 p.m. The games will be held on Thursday, November 7.
