This past week the Lady Lions played two games back to back due to field problems at Georgetown. First the Lady Lions traveled to Georgetown to face the Lady Eagles. Then, they hosted Vandegrift on Friday. The varsity Lady Lions won their game at Georgetown 5-3 after a close game.

“I felt confident and [I’m] finally able to say we’re back,” senior catcher Shelby Irlbeck said. “We have our game back.”

Junior varsity was stopped short against the Lady Eagles resulting in the JV Lady Eagles gaining a victory.

At their game against Vandegrift both JV and varsity won. Varsity won 6-3 in a hard fought game. The Lady Lions trailed after the first inning 1-0. The second inning was scoreless and in the third inning the Lady Lions were able to tie the game up 2-2. In the fourth inning the Lady Lions scored four runs giving them a 6-2 lead. After the fifth inning the Lady Vipers scored another run making the score 6-3. The sixth inning saw no runs and the Lady Lions held onto their lead to win 6-3.

“I feel like I did the best I could and it worked,” senior pitcher Hannah Holt said. “I have a defense behind me that I know I can trust.”

JV dominated the field and won 15-0 against the Lady Vipers. At the end of the first inning the Lady Lions scored five runs making the score 5-0. The Lady Lions then continued the run spree by scoring six runs after the 2nd inning making it a 11-0 lead. The third inning saw four more runs as the Lady Lions led 15-0.
