April 1, 2015
The Lady Lions softball team faced off against the Dripping Springs Lady Tigers in a close game that went into overtime.
“We could’ve been better,” junior Adrienne Vasquez said. “We could’ve played better if we would’ve done what we did at the end, at the beginning they wouldn’t have had five, but I’m glad we did and we worked really hard to win.”
The Lady Lions led 1-0 after the first inning. Both the second and third innings were scoreless leaving the score 1-0. During the fourth inning Dripping Springs tied the game making it 1-1. In the fifth inning the Lady Tigers scored twice making it a 3-1 game. The sixth inning was scoreless with Dripping Springs still in the lead. At the top of the seventh the Lady Tigers scored twice making it a 5-1 game. At the bottom of the seventh the Lady Lions came back to score four times to tie the game with a score of 5-5. The game then went into overtime. The eighth and ninth innings were scoreless, but in the 10th inning, Vasquez scored the final run to get the win against the Lady Tigers. The final score was 6-5.
“I was due for something like that,” Vasquez said. “I was trying really hard throughout the whole game. It was just a great feeling to be the winning run, and I’m glad Breezy hit a double because it was a for sure thing.”
The JV Lady Lions faced a tough game against the Lady Tigers. After the first inning the JV Lady Lions were down 3-2 against Dripping Springs.
