Fall Tennis has had a competitive week, and has won 2 matches since September 14th . Overall, the team’s current season record is 10-4, and their district record is 3-2.  Way to go Tennis!

To begin their week the team travled to Dripping Springs to take victory; the team won 10-9. This was a very close match for the fall team, but Anna Ward, junior, sealed the win for the lions with a 7-5, 6-4 match.

“It ended up being close because we had 6 super tie breakers, and we only won one of them; but in the other 5 we had match point, and it could’ve easily been 13-6.  Fortunately we were able to win some others down the road, ” Coach Kostoff said.

On September 15th, the team competed against Rouse, and barely lost.  The final score was 11-8.

“I knew it was going to be a tight match, we match up pretty evenly against them, so it was going to boil down to winning some of those late matches and we had our chances in several of them, but I knew it was going to be a close match,” Coach Kostoff said.

Next on Tuesday, the team traveled to Vista Ridge and came away with an 11-8 victory.  Zoe Lowery, senior, won the 10th match with a score of 6-1, 6-0 to seal the win for the Lions.

Friday, the Lions are ready to take on Vandegrift here, at home court.  This will be a tough match, considering Vandegrift has a very good team, but the Lions are up for a challenge.

“We’ve got a few good match ups, and our number one girl has yet to lose to anyone Vandegrift has put against her in the years we’ve played them.  I feel confident we can at least win 3 or 4 matches,”   Coach Kostoff said.
