Varsity in the snake pit: Lady Lions vs. Lady Vipers

The volleyball team traveled to Vandergrift to play the Lady Vipers Tuesday, September 17.

Much like the trip there, the game was longer than previous Lady Lion games, totalling to be five matches long. In the first game, Vandegrift came out on top against the Lady Lions. The girls fought hard, but it just wasn’t enough. The final score was Leander, 20 and Vandegrift 25.

The second match established VHS as the victor yet again. Their fast paced, aggressive style of play proved to be too much for the Leander defense. While the girls had numerous kills, the Lady Vipers were able to overcome and win 25-17.

In a close match, the Lady Lions reclaimed their title of victor with a score of 25-23. The girls fought strong and hard. They had multiple ace servers and excellent kills from middle Megan Slan, senior. Slan got kill after kill, resulting in a total of an outstanding 23 kills for the entire game.

Match five was shorter, only to 15 instead of 25. The Lady Lions gained an early lead, they were first to 8 points. The Lady Vipers cut the lead down, but this proved to be no problem for the Lions. The girls claimed another win resulting in a total victory against the Lady Vipers. The final score was 15-9.
