Veteran MJ Hegar serves a shaka to the camera from her medevac helicopter. Hegar, an LHS alumni, was awarded the Purple Heart for her bravery during her third tour in Afghanistan. After serving in the Air Force for 12 years, she came home to marry a fellow alumni, Brandon Hegar. “It’s funny,” Hegar said. “You go all the way around the world and come home to find your soulmate in the elementary school playground.”
