The Lady Lions faced a tough defeat against Rouse in their past game that ended after the 5th inning with a final score of 14-2. The Raiders led the 1st inning 4-0 and 5-0 in the 2nd inning. Rouse continued to score in the 3rd inning giving them a 10-0 lead. The Lions got a score with Rouse still leading 14-1.

“I can’t say I wasn’t upset,” senior Shelby Irlbeck said. “I always am after a loss. But we decided that one game does not define a season. A great team chooses to react differently to a loss and not let it affect them.”

The Lady Lions are now 1-1 in their season and their next game is at Elgin on March 3, but the varsity Lady Lions will go to the Round Rock ISD tournament February 26-28.

“We are going to tighten up our defense,” Irlbeck said, “and work on trusting each other in the field.”

The JV Lady Lions crushed Rouse in a high scoring game. After the 1st inning, the Lady Lions trailed 2-1 against the Raiders. After the 2nd inning, the game was tied 2-2. The Lady Lions then scored six points to get an 8-3 lead after the 3rd inning. Time was called after the 4th inning to make time for varsity warm ups, resulting in a victory for the Lady Lions with a final score of 10-3. JV’s next game will be at Elgin on March 3.
